Dear Valued Chamber Member,

It is an honor to write to you today as the newly appointed President/CEO of our 106-year-old organization. I am fortunate to be following in the footsteps of the talented and dedicated Dave Garth, and I look forward to building on what you and he accomplished over the past 39 years.

The San Luis Obispo Chamber of Commerce has prospered for more than a century because of the commitment of members like you. Today, we have more than 1,400 businesses and organizations among our members, each dedicated to the economic, social and environmental well-being of our community.

The Chamber recently began several new programs that we will continue to develop, including business-building seminars, new collaborative relationships with Cal Poly, the county and the city to assist local entrepreneurs, and an upcoming economic development website to provide the information and resources that businesses need to grow.

And, as always, we will remain committed to representing the interests of our local business members to government, seek new ways to connect members to the people, information and advantages they need to be successful in their professions, and identify new opportunities to promote our community by elevating our regional strengths and identity.

Of longer-range importance, late last year the Chamber’s Board of Directors began the work of crafting a five-year strategic plan – the first of its kind for our organization. This plan is intended to identify key objectives, strategies and measurements for success so that our Chamber continues to be one of the top chambers of commerce in the country. The plan development is currently underway and I look forward to sharing with you the new initiatives that will come out of that effort in the coming months. Our goal remains steadfast: to help our members and their businesses thrive.

The Chamber staff and I are dedicated to increasing the level of service and the return on your investment in the Chamber. We are here to serve the membership in advancing the opportunities to conduct business in our region but we will need your participation to maximize the services and value we offer.

I look forward to hearing your ideas on how to improve membership offerings, value and participation. I invite you to contact me with your ideas or any questions you may have regarding the Chamber. Please e-mail me, call or stop by the Chamber offices.

Thank you for your support of the Chamber, and I look forward to what we will accomplish working together.

Sincerely,

Ermina
